I founded J2Build 20 years ago in the tight streets of Sydney’s eastern suburbs and inner west. The company quickly established a reputation for delivering architecturally ambitious and environmentally sensitive homes. We were soon kept busy with repeat work for some of the city’s most exciting architects and their inspired clients.

2008 was a pivotal year. After winning the NSW Master Builders Awards for our very first new build, navigating the impacts of the GFC, welcoming our third child in four years, and renovating our own home, my wife Kate and I were ready for a change of pace. The South Coast, with its mix of beaches, rolling hills, and untouched bush, had always been our favorite holiday escape. With family in the area and the discovery of our perfect tree-change project in Berry, Kate and I traded CBD success for a more sustainable lifestyle.

We founded J2 Build South Coast in 2008 and have called the region home ever since.

Over 25 years in the business, I’ve built a team of skilled, loyal craftsmen who embody the values and culture of J2Build and have stayed with us for years and years. We pride ourselves on our incredible network of trusted local suppliers who prioritise working for us. Our culture is built on a strong foundation of trust between builder, client, engineer and architect. We are transparent around finances. We respect the scale of investment being made. The clients, architects, suppliers, bank manager, neighbours and mother-in-laws we have worked alongside are all happy to vouch for our attention to detail, up to date knowledge, genuine commitment to sustainability, contemporary outlook, energy and good humour.

Building can get pretty up close and personal. J2 understands that when you are waving hello at 7am, you better be very comfortable with who is onsite. His polite, tidy team are as proud of the work they do, as the relationships they develop over the course of the build. You will love getting to know them. These days the core team consists of 7 carpenters and apprentices who have all worked for the company for more than 2 years. J2 proudly develops apprentices and invests in continuing education for staff.

The last part of the picture is the network of preferred subcontractors that J2 has trialled and tested over the last 9 years. These longstanding partnerships are an additional strategic advantage of J2’s. Their enthusiasm to work with J2 ensures that the best of the South Coasts skilled sub-contractors are willing and able to prioritise your job.
